A cherished cornerstone of Shreveport's culinary landscape, Strawn's Eat Shop Too continues the storied tradition that began in 1944 when Mr. Strawn established the original location across from Centenary College. The restaurant's evolution took a significant turn in 1958 under Gus Alexander's ownership, during which the legendary trio of Lula McCoy, Ella Hamilton, and Gladys Duncan – respectively known as "The Fried Chicken Maker," "The Pie Lady," and "The Great Waitress" – helped forge Strawn's reputation as a "Shreveport Tradition." The Gauthier family's stewardship, beginning in 1988 when Buddy and Nancy acquired the establishment, ushered in an era of expansion and innovation. Their daughter Celeste brought this culinary heritage to East 70th Street in 2001, later relocating to Youree Drive in 2017. The restaurant's acclaimed icebox pies have garnered national recognition, earning features in Southern Living Magazine across multiple years and a spotlight on The Food Network's "The Best Of" program. Today, operating from its 7803 Youree Drive location, Strawn's Eat Shop Too maintains its commitment to homestyle cooking and exceptional service. Their signature dishes, particularly their nationally recognized pies, continue to draw both loyal patrons and curious visitors, some of whom dine multiple times weekly, cementing the restaurant's position as a cornerstone of Shreveport's dining culture.
